The 19-year-old - who has been riding high at the top of the UK charts with her hit Umbrella for nine weeks - told the Daily Star: "I have a personal trainer. I work my arms and my butt because I love it!


"But my legs are my main focus - I'm obsessed."

It seems that the R &B songstress isn't the only one who loves her pins.

"I was named Celebrity Legs of a Goddess and they insured by legs for one million dollars," she added. "It's a nice feeling. It means a lot when I see my pictures in the press."

And she said she's been having a great time since her career took off.

"So much has happened in my life," she grinned. "I feel like I've grown five years in the last year. It's been a rollercoaster, but a good one. I've always been determined and loved every minute."

As the daughter of pro wrestler Hulk Hogan, pop singer Brooke Hogan grew up in a family accustomed to the type of lifestyle that comes with fame, which helped her easily transition into the celeb spotlight of her own making as a teenager. Born and raised in Tampa, FL, Brooke entered the world on May 5, 1988, as Brooke Bollea, the oldest of two children (she has a younger brother, Nick); she would later adopt her father's stage surname of Hogan. Growing up in a home filled with the music of the Isley Brothers, Earth, Wind & Fire, Whitney Houston, and Toni Braxton, she caught the entertainment bug early, starting piano lessons when she was five. Brooke soon added cheerleading, along with dance and voice classes, to her résumé, and at ten, she decided she was ready (with the help of her parents) to start calling talent agencies. This led to a modeling contract, and by 15, Brooke had further developed her musical skills enough to land opening slots on tours for Hilary Duff and the Backstreet Boys, as well as singing at a Radio Disney holiday event. She recorded her first charting single, "Everything to Me," in 2004, the same year her family was spotlighted on a VH1 television special. The hour-long show did so well that it was developed into a reality series, Hogan Knows Best. Brooke's road to becoming a pop star (not to mention an actively dating teen overcoming an overprotective father) was concurrently documented alongside the Hogan family's daily life. Soon enough, producer Scott Storch (Justin Timberlake, Christina Aguilera, 50 Cent) approached her about recording a song of his; this led to Brooke being the first artist signed to his label, Storch Music Company (created through a deal with SoBe Entertainment). Four months of work in Miami together resulted in Brooke's debut dance-pop album, Undiscovered, which included collaborations with Nelly Furtado, Beenie Man, and Cam'ron. The record's first single, "About Us," featured rapper Paul Wall and heated up airwaves upon its release in summer 2006; filming for the third season of Hogan Knows Best began as well. The resulting hype led nicely into Undiscovered's late October arrival.

The winner of Fox TV's first American Idol: The Search for a Superstar competition during the summer of 2002, Kelly Clarkson went from an anonymous talent to a nationally known singer, performing for an audience of millions of viewers. One of the show's most naturally gifted singers, the 20-year-old Burleson, TX, native's vocal talents were discovered when she was in seventh grade, when her school's choir teacher heard her singing and urged Clarkson to join the choir. After high school, Clarkson cultivated her voice and went to Hollywood to make her name; she appeared as an extra on an episode of Sabrina, the Teenage Witch but no other opportunities materialized.


Upon returning to Burleson, Clarkson worked at a movie theater, promoted Red Bull energy drinks, and ultimately worked as a cocktail waitress at a comedy club before entering the American Idol contest. One of 10,000 aspiring singers, Clarkson distinguished herself not only with her big, surprisingly mature voice, but also with her down-to-earth charm and sense of humor; at one of her auditions, she switched places with judge Randy Jackson, who did an impromptu version of R. Kelly's "I Believe I Can Fly." Over the course of the 13-week show, her consistently strong performances of songs like "Respect," "Natural Woman," "Stuff Like That There," and "Without You" earned Clarkson enough audience votes to claim one of the contest's two finalist positions. After singing "A Moment Like This" and "Before Your Love," both of which were written for the show, Clarkson won the American Idol contest with 58 percent of the audience's votes. In addition to the show's prize of one million dollars and a recording contract with RCA, Clarkson secured a deal with Creative Artists Agency and several bookings, including the national American Idol tour and a performance of the national anthem at the September 11 commemoration at Washington, D.C.'s Lincoln Memorial.

Despite her newfound fame, Clarkson opted to remain in Texas rather than move to New York or Los Angeles. Her first single, "A Moment Like This," was released just two weeks after she won the contest and quickly earned platinum sales. Clarkson's debut full-length, Thankful, was released in spring of 2003, just in time to coincide with the second season of American Idol and right before the American Idol movie, From Justin to Kelly. Breakaway followed in late 2004 and was a huge success, selling over five million copies (making it the third best-selling album of 2005) and spawning the hit singles "Because of You," "Behind These Hazel Eyes," and "Since U Been Gone." That song and Breakaway earned Grammys for Best Female Pop Vocal Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album, respectively, at the 48th Annual Grammy Awards in early 2006. Clarkson continued her busy touring schedule that spring and summer and announced plans for her third album.

In 2007, Clarkson released My December the studio follow-up to Breakaway. Notable as Clarkson's first foray into writing or co-writing most of the songs, My December had a darker, even more rock-oriented edge than its predecessor and even featured a guest appearance by punk icon bassist Mike Watt.

Though Taylor Hicks' quirky soulfulness made him 2006's American Idol, runner-up Katharine McPhee's classic good looks and voice and affinity for traditional pop made her a strong contender throughout the season. In fact, she was one of the first semifinalists to make it to the final 12. A native of Sherman Oaks, CA, McPhee began singing at age two. Her mother, Patricia McPhee, is an established singer in her own right, performing and recording as Peisha McPhee. She helped Katharine develop as a vocalist and gave her more formal training than many American Idol hopefuls receive. Though McPhee sang and acted throughout her childhood and high-school years, she began taking singing more seriously in college, attending Boston Conservatory as a musical theater major. After three semesters, however, she left for Los Angeles to audition for film and television work. McPhee scored roles in the film Crazy, a musical about Hank Garland, and an MTV series, You Are Here, which didn't make it to the air. She also appeared in productions of Annie Get Your Gun and The Ghost and Mrs. Muir before auditioning for American Idol in 2005.

Once McPhee made the final 12, her performances of songs such as "Someone to Watch Over Me," "Come Rain or Come Shine," and "Black Horse and the Cherry Tree" made her one of the favorites of American Idol judges and viewers. After the American Idol season ended, McPhee was signed by show creator Simon Fuller's 19 Recordings Limited label and released her first single, Somewhere Over the Rainbow/My Destiny; it became the second best-selling single of 2006. That summer, after bouts with bronchitis and laryngitis, she joined the rest of the finalists and Hicks on the American Idols LIVE! tour and also toured with Andrea Bocelli, who appeared on American Idol as a guest judge. McPhee began recording her self-titled debut album in the fall, working with collaborators such as Timbaland's production partner, Nate "Danja Hand" Hills, Chad Hugo of the Neptunes, and songwriter Kara DioGuardi. "Over It," which was written by the songwriting team of Billy Steinberg, Josh Alexander, and Ruth-Anne Cunningham, arrived a few weeks before Katharine McPhee was released in early 2007.
